Sleep Habits of the Rich and Famous

Sleep habits of the rich and famous

In her excellent book about sleep, “The Sleep Revolution: Transforming Your Life, One Night at a Time,” Ariana Huffington calls the widespread sleep deprivation so common in our society a “…spectre haunting the industrialized world.” Study after study has shown just how important it is to get a full night of good quality sleep. While that may be true, it doesn’t change the fact that for many of us, life is beyond busy and it can be really challenging to make sure that  we get the requisite number of hours of shut-eye every night.

Successful people recognize that getting enough sleep is non-negotiable. Here’s how some well-known people manage to guard their sleep even when their schedules threaten to overwhelm them.

Athletes and Actors Need Sleep Too

Tom Brady, Quarterback

Quarterback Tom Brady eats his vegetables and aims to get 8-9 hours of sleep every night. You won’t find this athlete staying up late to binge watch the latest Netflix show! His dedication to sleep must be working: Brady has been to multiple Pro Bowls and has enjoyed several Super Bowl wins in a long, successful career in a sport known to be brutally hard on the body.

Norma Kamali, Designer

When it just isn’t possible to squeeze in a full night’s sleep, sometimes you need to get creative. In a podcast episode with Mindbodygreen, Kamali agrees that sleep equals self-care. She limits how much caffeine she consumes and even when it’s crazily busy she finds ways to take restful moments during the day when she may indulge in meditation or a quick exercise session.

Jennifer Aniston, Actor

Jennifer Aniston is adamant about shutting off her digital devices at least an hour before she settles into bed. Like many of us, Aniston has struggled with bouts of insomnia, but says she finds it helpful to meditate (even for a few minutes) or do some yoga before bed. Aniston is also a big advocate of taking a hot shower or bath right before bed.

Miranda Kerr, Model

Celebrities like Miranda Kerr find apps like Sleep Cycle to be useful when it comes to facilitating a decent sleep. In an interview with Vogue she says she switches her phone to airplane mode and uses the app to monitor how much sleep she’s getting.

Though their approaches may differ slightly, what all these celebrities agree on is that sleep matters. Here at Luxe Pillow we couldn’t agree more. Our pillows are specially designed with your comfort in mind.
